As the only minority-owned radio station serving the Portland, Maine area, 107.9 WJZP plays tribute to artists of color. More than just a radio station, we’re a cultural outlet, celebrating and sharing our heritage through our music and programming.
We broadcast music that reflects the talent, history, and richness of our culture. From jazz, gospel, and Motown, to R&B, funk, neo soul and more!
With a strong sense of community, we also promote the creative and cultural landscape of Portland by showcasing our city’s own artists, venues and businesses.
We appreciate our listeners and are excited to grow our community--expanding our reach through our online presence and making great music accessible to everyone. Our hope is to widen the appreciation for the music we play while amplifying cultural awareness through an ever-growing listenership.

Earth Saylove
Earth Saylove is an Emcee, DJ, Producer, and author of Hip Hop and the Art of Peace Education. A member of the Universal Zulu Nation and International Artist of Nicaragua, she blends storytelling, sampling, and activism through her music. She hosts Jazzy Peoples on WJZP 107.9 FM, sharing soulful mixes and interviews with a global audience.

Loida Otero
Loida is the Community Manager at WJZP 107.9, passionate about building strong, story-driven community connections. With 5+ years of experience supporting Indie brands across industries, she crafts authentic narratives that resonate. She holds a B.S. in Public Affairs from Baruch College and enjoys exploring local food spots, tea shops, and bookstores.
Dylan Raw is a South Portland native, recording artist, producer, and CEO of Raw Affiliation. With millions of streams and collaborations with Grammy-winning talent, he brings deep industry experience to WJZP 107.9. Dedicated to preserving hip hop and giving back, Dylan aims to grow the station’s impact locally and worldwide.
Dylan Raw

Ken Johnston, a Grammy-winning engineer from East Orange, NJ, began as a trombonist before touring with acts like Slave and Aurra. He discovered audio engineering, graduated top of his class in NYC, and became the first Black Assistant Engineer at Unique Recording Studio. Ken later opened NJ’s top studio, Perfect Pair Recordings, working with stars like Lauryn Hill, Jaheim, and 3LW—pioneering Auto-Tune on R&B hits. Now based in Las Vegas, he teaches recording, co-runs a multimedia company with his wife, and produces a weekly radio show on WJZP 107.9 FM.
