Organizations wishing to underwrite our music programming can choose from five different underwriting plans:


  • Plans A, B, and C are available on Monday through Friday.

  • Plans D and E are available on Saturday and Sunday.

Below, we describe our underwriting guidelines as set forth by the FCC and then

provide details concerning each of our five underwriting plans.  *Note that we can cut your announcement in-house for only $100.






All WJZP underwriting announcements must conform to the FCC's established guidelines. These guidelines specify that underwriting announcements may identify, but not promote, their for-profit sponsors. In this regard, underwriting announcements can briefly describe an underwriter’s products and/or services in value-neutral terms, list business addresses, telephone numbers, and websites, consistent with the purpose of identification only. This essentially means that underwriting announcements cannot provide price information, attempts to induce business patronage, call listeners to action, or seek to distinguish or compare an underwriter’s products or services with those of their competitors. Even with these restrictions on underwriting announcements, there is plenty of room to creatively identify your company in the Greater Portland area. To summarize, all on-air underwriting announcements for profit-making enterprises can and cannot include the following:

Your underwriting announcements can include:


  • A description of your products, services, and or brand name


  • The location of your products and/or services


  • A description of your target markets


  • Long-standing slogans that identify your business


  • Your contact information



Your underwriting announcements cannot include:


  • Anything concerning price, discounts, sales, and/or deals


  • Any call to action (ex. “come by”, “try”, “call”, etc.)


  • Anything that compares or describes the quality of your services or products










Plan A is comprised of two announcements per weekday.


These announcements are aired Monday through Friday during the morning commute (6:00am-9:00am), and either during our Motown Lunch Hour (12:00pm-1:00pm) or during the evening commute (4:00pm-6:00pm).

Overview/Cost:  $15 per Announcement; Two Announcements per Weekday; Ten Announcements per Week; $150 per week.



Plan B is comprised of three announcements per weekday.


Monday through Friday, one announcement is aired between 9:00am-12:00pm, a second between 1:00pm-4:00pm and a third between 6:00pm-9:00pm.

Overview/Cost:  $10 per Announcement; Three Announcements per Weekday; Fifteen Announcements per Week; $150 per week.




Plan C is comprised of one announcement per weekday.


This announcement is aired Monday through Friday between 9:00pm-12:00am.

Overview/Cost:  $10 per Announcement; One Announcement per Weekday; Five Announcements per Week; $50 per week.






Plan D is comprised of three announcements per weekend day.


These three announcements are staggered by four hours between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Overview/Cost: $10 per Announcement; Three Announcements per Weekend Day; Six Announcements per Week; $60 per week.



Plan E is comprised of one announcement per weekend night.


This single announcement is aired between the hours of 8:00pm and 12:00am on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Overview/Cost: $10 per Announcement; One Announcement per Weekend Night; Two Announcements per Week; $20 per week.
